The Casper City Council decided they want a performing art center.
The CCA approached the City Council on August 29 to request a private/public partnership to build the Civic in the Old Yellowstone District. After the presentation, the council asked the City staff to examine the cost of the CCA requests.
After another work session on October 25, the council decided they would like to continue to research the options for the civic auditorium, looking at the most affordable opportunities including a possible re-location next to the Casper Events Center. The corridor location, or Old Yellowstone District, is the area bordered by Poplar, David, First and Collins Streets.
A four-member committee was formed to work with City staff as well as the CCA to further examine the project and how to fund it.
Many thanks go out to all the CCA supporters who contacted council members to voice their support for the Civic.
“This is a very important first step in forming a partnership with the City of Casper,” said Ken Barbe, President of the CCA Board of Directors. “We were very encouraged by the council’s overwhelming vote of support for a performing arts center and look forward to working with the committee to find an equitable solution.”
